SECOND COLLECTION NEXT SUNDAY, July 12, for Emerging Churches. Please make payable to St. Kateri Parish.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE Since our Community here at St. Thomas’ is not a legal entity, we need to have our finances run through the books of St. Kateri Parish. Therefore, checks should be made payable to “St. Kateri Tekakwitha-Latin Mass Community” OR for short, “SKT-LMC”. Contributions can be placed in the blue envelopes OR loose in the collection baskets. Contributions deposited in envelopes from neighboring parishes will be returned to those home parishes and will not be credited to SKT-LMC. SKT-LMC envelopes deposited in neighboring parish collections will be returned and credited to us.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND A SPIRITUAL HOME in our Latin Mass Community here at St. Thomas’, please consider registering with us. Use the census forms found at the entrance door tables. On the top write in clear letters “LMC”. Place form in the collection basket. Welcome!
WE DO NEED VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email dflanigen@yahoo.com or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
SPEAKING OF VOLUNTEERS…We are still looking for volunteer teachers and aides for the Faith Formation Program we hope to get off the ground. ARE YOU AVAILABLE AND REASONABLY QUALIFIED to serve the Community as an INSTRUCTOR or TEACHER’S AIDE? Contact (A.S.A.P.) Denise Flanigen at dflanigen@yahoo.com or 467-8747.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR WEBSITE? Check it out at www.skt.lmc.org. Special thanks to Ben Anderson, Jason Herforth, and Jonathan Lane. Email address: contact@162.144.95.10. If you have any suggestions to add, contact benanderson@benanderson.us.
THE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL, adjacent to the Parish Center must continue to be a very important powerhouse of prayer for us and for people in our area. Hours of adoration are on Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 10 PM (11 PM on Tuesday and Friday). WE NEED MORE ADORERS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY HOUR IS COVERED. Please consider signing up for an hour or being on the substitute list. Contact Marie O’Leary at 467-1982.
CASE TRAINING The Diocese of Rochester requires volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults to participate in Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training. If you plan to volunteer for a ministry that involves working with children, youth or vulnerable adults, you will need to take the class on-line from your home computer or attend a training session. If you prefer in-person training, the current class schedule at St. Kateri Parish is as follows: Friday 7/10 11:00 AM, Thursday 7/16 11:00 AM or Saturday 7/25 11:30 AM. Please call or email Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email lmcommunity3@gmail.com for further instructions.
FURNITURE DONATION THROUGH WEGMANS. We would like to express our deep gratitude to Wegmans from whom we received a generous grant of furniture for the parish center to help outfit offices, meeting rooms, and religious education classrooms. Did you know Robert Wegman grew up on St. Paul Boulevard and was a student at St. Thomas the Apostle school? Our LMC member Chris Vargas volunteered her knowledge and help with applying for this donation. Please stop over to see the wonderful changes. A big thanks to Chris and to Wegmans!
AS SUMMER-LIKE WEATHER COMES ALONG, please be reminded that proper attire is required for attendance at Mass, even on warm or torrid days. Short pants, halter tops, gym shorts, beach wear, etc. are not appropriate in church. We should not “dress down” for Mass. We should dress neatly and modestly out of respect for the House of God and the sacred mysteries celebrated here. Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining an atmosphere of prayerfulness and reverence in the presence of God.
IS THERE A COFFEE HOUR TODAY? Yes, there is! Come to the Parish Center after Mass.
COMMUNITY PICNIC SUNDAY, JULY 19 on the south lawn. Bishop Matano will be present at both Masses on Sunday, July 19. Beginning at 12:30 that afternoon, he will be joining us for our community picnic. There will be burgers, hot dogs, Italian sausage (which the Bishop is looking forward to!) and drinks. Please bring a dish to pass. There will be games for the kids, and fun for all! Mark your calendar!
BAKED FOOD AUCTION It has been a tradition at St. Thomas the Apostle to hold a baked food auction at our picnics. If you love to bake, please bring a favorite recipe to the picnic on July 19. Please contact Marcy Gabello at 756-6357 (H) or 739-3832 (C), or email her at marcyg@rochester.rr.com with any questions.
