HOW TO CONTRIBUTE Checks should be made payable to “St. Kateri Tekakwitha-Latin Mass Community” OR for short, “SKT-LMC”. If you do not have pre-printed envelopes, contributions can be placed in the blue envelopes OR loose in the collection baskets. Contributions deposited in envelopes from neighboring parishes will be returned to those home parishes and will not be credited to SKT-LMC. SKT-LMC envelopes deposited in neighboring parish collections will be returned and credited to us. Please be aware that, even though the SKT-LMC operates financially under ST. KATERI PARISH, the SKT-LMC does not subsidize ST. KATERI PARISH, and ST.KATERI PARISH does not subsidize the SKT-LMC. We must rely on our own monetary income to support our activities and facilities.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND A SPIRITUAL HOME in our Latin Mass Community here at St. Thomas’, please consider registering with us. Use the census forms found at the entrance door tables. On the top write in clear letters “LMC”. Place form in the collection basket. Welcome!
WE DO NEED VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email dflanigen@yahoo.com or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR WEBSITE? Check it out at www.skt-lmc.org. Special thanks to Ben Anderson, Jason Herforth, and Jonathan Lane. Email address: contact@162.144.95.10. If you have any suggestions to add, contact benanderson@benanderson.us.
THE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL, adjacent to the Parish Center must continue to be a very important powerhouse of prayer for us and for people in our area. Hours of adoration are on Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 10 PM (11 PM on Tuesday and Friday). WE NEED MORE ADORERS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY HOUR IS COVERED. Please consider signing up for an hour or being on the substitute list. Contact Marie O’Leary at 467-1982.
CASE TRAINING The Diocese of Rochester requires volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults to participate in Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training. If you plan to volunteer for a ministry that involves working with children, youth or vulnerable adults, you will need to take the class on-line from your home computer or attend a training session. If you prefer in-person training, the current class schedule at St. Kateri Parish is as follows: Thursday 7/16 11:00 AM or Saturday 7/25 11:30 AM. Please call or email Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email lmcommunity3@gmail.com for further instructions.
CHURCH FLOWERS. Interested in helping once a month with flowers for the church? Please contact Ginny Maurer at 368-8869.
CARMELITE MONASTERY On July 12, the homily/sermon at our Masses was about the Carmelite tradition and the history of the Discalced Carmelites at 1931 W. Jefferson Road in Pittsford. Interested in knowing more about their purpose and way of life? They have a website: www.carmelitesofrochester.org. “Check it out.”
A “TEMPORARY” FAREWELL – Long-time Latin Mass member, choir singer, altar server, and Master of Ceremony, STEVE LEWIS, is preparing to enter St. John’s Seminary in Boston next month as a seminarian for our Diocese. (Cheers!) On Sunday, August 16, a “temporary” good-bye gathering is being planned in his honor. We will meet at Keenan’s Restaurant on East Ridge Road at 2:30PM. Ordering will be off the menu (with separate checks). Space is limited so please call Bob and Mary Ellen Gilkinson (388-7734) by Thursday, August 6th for reservations.
DISCOVERED in an old St. Thomas the Apostle Church bulletin dated June 27, 1993:
“DRESS CODE”
There really is no specific dress code or mandated attire for Church, except propriety. In St. Peter’s in Rome, there are very strictly enforced regulations which everyone takes in stride. With the summer time, the question has already come up from parishioners as to what is acceptable or not. The concentration of the complaints seems to be on shorts (adults: men and women), halters, and “see-through” clothes. So far no complaints about anyone “shirtless” or “shoeless”. We appreciate your help in preserving an atmosphere of regard for the holiness of the Church in which you worship.
THANKS TO ALL for a WONDERFUL PATRONAL FEAST!
Our gratitude goes out to Bishop Salvatore Matano (and his secretary Father Daniel White) for visiting our Community last Sunday for a (transferred from July 3) celebration of our church’s patron, St. Thomas the Apostle. The Masses were splendid. The Bishop gave excellent homilies. The schola and choir (under John Morabito’s direction) did a masterful job. God was glorified, St. Thomas was duly honored, and our Community was galvanized! And then there was the PICNIC! What a special occasion, enjoyed by the good number of those who attended! The setting (our south lawn) was perfect, and the weather was spectacular (warm with sunshine and pleasant lake breeze). THANK YOU to all who worked very hard to make the gathering a happy success: those who cleaned church and parish center; those who beautified the grounds; who set-up, took down, cleaned-up; who donated the home-made sausage, and cooked all the meat; those who donated baked goods, led the children’s games, etc….The list goes on, “too many to mention by name.” July 19 2015, was a great day in our history and it was brought to YOU by YOU!! (Gratefully, Father Bonsignore)
COFFEE HOUR TODAY? Yes, in the Parish Center, after the Masses in the Church. Do stop in.
