THANK YOU for your generosity. Let your support of our Community here be both material and especially spiritual. We all need to pray as one that the Lord will make us one in the Faith.
HOW TO CONTRIBUTE Checks should be made payable to “St. Kateri Tekakwitha-Latin Mass Community” OR for short, “SKT-LMC”. If you have pre-printed envelopes, please use them. If not, contributions can be placed in the blue envelopes OR loose in the collection baskets. Contributions deposited in envelopes from neighboring parishes will be returned to those home parishes and will not be credited to SKT-LMC. SKT-LMC envelopes deposited in neighboring parish collections will be returned and credited to us. Please be aware that, even though the SKT-LMC operates financially under ST. KATERI PARISH, the SKT-LMC does not subsidize ST. KATERI PARISH, and ST.KATERI PARISH does not subsidize the SKT-LMC. We must rely on our own monetary income to support our activities and facilities.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND A SPIRITUAL HOME in our Latin Mass Community here at St. Thomas’, please consider registering with us. Use the census forms found at the entrance door tables. Place form in the collection basket. Welcome!
In order for you to receive the next packet of envelopes for Jan/Feb, your enrollment form must be submitted by Sunday November 15th. If you do not receive your envelopes by December 26th, please contact Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email to lmcommunity3gmail.com.
WE DO NEED VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email dflanigen@yahoo.com or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR WEBSITE? Check it out at www.skt-lmc.org. Special thanks to Ben Anderson, Jason Herforth, and Jonathan Lane. Email address: contact@162.144.95.10. If you have any suggestions to add, contact benanderson@benanderson.us.
THE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL, adjacent to the Parish Center must continue to be a very important powerhouse of prayer for us and for people in our area. Hours of adoration are on Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 10 PM (11 PM on Tuesday and Friday). WE NEED MORE ADORERS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY HOUR IS COVERED. Please consider signing up for an hour or being on the substitute list. Contact Marie O’Leary at 467-1982.
CASE TRAINING The Diocese of Rochester requires volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults to participate in Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training. If you plan to volunteer for a ministry that involves working with children, youth or vulnerable adults, you will need to take the class on-line from your home computer or attend a training session. Please call or email Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email lmcommunity3@gmail.com for further instructions.
WHEN YOU COME TO CHURCH, please turn OFF all cell phones, hand-held electronic devices, pagers, watch alarms, etc. ALSO, remember to dress appropriately (neatly and modestly). Unfortunately, in many churches today, people tend to “dress down” for Mass. How can this be??? RESPECT and REVERENCE toward God and neighbor (i.e. charity) should determine how we present ourselves in the House of God. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy and cooperation.
FAITH FORMATION CCD classes have begun! We continue to welcome new students to our program. There is no doubt that Bishop Matano will use the success of our CCD classes as a factor when determining our future, so please consider enrolling your children with us. We are using the Faith and Life Series in conjunction with the Baltimore Catechism to form our lessons. Our students will master their prayers, learn how to conduct themselves properly in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Chapel, and will be going to confession regularly as part of our classes. One of our main goals is for our children to head off to college living their faith and being able to defend it. Please allow us to support your work at home by enrolling your children. Come to the parish center today at 10:10 or email Andy Follaco with questions at andrew.follaco@bcs1.org.
OUR EVANGELIZATION COMMITTEE has met, with expected enthusiasm. More on this later. Committee Head is Gene Michael.
NEXT ENGLISH CHOIR MASS: October 25
NEXT LATIN HIGH MASS: October 24
THE “AMBROSIAN GLORIA” has been introduced at the 9 AM Mass, and the antiphonal (alternating) chanting of it in Latin has been quite successful. Latin is the official language of the Catholic Church and so it is always permissible to use it at liturgical services (in both FORMS of the Roman Rite). In fact, in the initial planning phase of the SKT-LMC, Bishop Matano suggested that Latin music could be used at our English Mass, as is the case in many places in the universal Church today (e.g. at Masses celebrated by Pope Francis at the Vatican and in other parts of the world).
JIM HOLDEN, long-time LMC member and friend, has been hospitalized for some time now. He needs our prayerful support. If you would like to send him messages of encouragement, please do so through Sharon Mooney at 582-1179.
OUR DEAR CARMELITE NUNS , who always have our Community in their prayers, are hosting a TERESIAN TRIDUUM of prayer for vocations to the Priesthood and Religious Life in the Diocese of Rochester, The Triduum is in honor of the 5th Centenary of the Birth of St. Teresa of Avila and will consist of a Conference on St. Teresa and a Eucharistic Holy Hour concluded with Benediction (7:00 to 8:30 PM) on October 12, 13, and 14. Presider and Homilist will be Fr. Jack Healy, O. Carm. The Carmelite Monastery is at 1931 West Jefferson Road, across from Locust Hill Country Club.

QUESTION OR CONCERN? If you have any questions, concerns, or comments to share regarding SKT-LMC at St. Thomas the Apostle: (1) please drop a note in the collection basket; (2) send an email to lmcommunity3@gmail.com; or (3) attend a general COMMUNITY MEETING held in the church on Sunday morning, October 18, between the Masses from 10 AM to 10:45AM. Our last general meeting was well-attended (on May 17). Let’s do it again.
BLESSING OF PETS in honor of St. Francis, will take place outdoors TODAY at 1:00 PM., weather-permitting. If rained-out, we’ll try again next Sunday, October 11. If your pet doesn’t get along with other pets, perhaps a “private blessing” would be in order!
COFFEE HOUR UPDATE. It has been announced that Sunday coffee hours would ordinarily take place in the future only on the first Sunday of the month. However, others have come forward and offered to put on a coffee hour on the third Sunday. More often is fine too, provided we have the workers! Are there any others who would like to volunteer for this needed “ministry” of hospitality? Call Fr. Bonsignore at 244-8692. Thanks to those who have worked so hard in the past and who will work hard in the future to put on such social gatherings (however plain and simple!) for us to come together as friends in the Lord.
JUDE TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS A Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated in honor of Saint Jude on October 28 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Our Lady of Mercy is located on 44 Lake Street in LeRoy, New York. For more information, please contact the parish office at (585)768-6543.
