FAITH FORMATION
Sign-up sheets are next to the bulletins as you enter church for those who would like to be added to our Faith Formation program for the 2016-2017 school year. Please take a moment to fill them out in one of the vestibules as you leave church. We are offering classes for:
- K-7th Students will be grouped based off of a combination of knowledge and age.
- First Penance and First Communion: For students in the 2nd grade who do not attend our weekly classes.
- Confirmation Year 1: ALL students entering their 8th grade year that wish to receive the Sacrament during their 9th grade year MUST be enrolled in this course. While there was an exception to the rule this past year, it has been made clear that all students from this point forward need to be prepared through our Community.
- Confirmation Year 2: This class is closed to new entrants, as Confirmation Year 1 is a prerequisite course.
- Apologetics: A course for students that have been confirmed (up to age 21) to know our Faith more deeply and to be able to defend our Faith to others.
Parents of students that are currently in our program do NOT need to fill out a new form. It is assumed that you will be continuing with us unless you notify Andy to the contrary.
Our final Faith Formation Class will be on June 12th. Enjoy the summer with your families!
The KICKBALL team is up to 10 members! We would love to have a few more. We play games around the county on six Wednesdays starting July 6th. Please consider having your son or daughter in the 7th-12th grade join us! If anyone is willing to coach (supervise) it would be a great help to me. Please email me at afollaco@dor.org if you are interested in helping out or if you would like your child to play.
SEABREEZE DAY has been confirmed! We will be going on Saturday, June 25th. Tickets should be $19.75 per person. (If you were to pay at the door it would be $31.99). Money needs to be collected ahead of time. Details as to how to sign up and pay will be in next weeks bulletin.

HELPING OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Each Sunday throughout the year, SKT-LMC collects donations of non-perishable food items for local food cupboards, for the purpose of alleviating hunger caused by poverty in our area. The need is very real, even though we may not “see” it close-up. Donations may be placed in the green baskets in each of the church vestibules.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email dflanigen@yahoo.com or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
THE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL, adjacent to the Parish Center, must continue to be a very important powerhouse of prayer and place of spiritual refuge for us and for people in our area. Hours of adoration are on Mondays through Fridays from 9AM to 10PM (11PM on Tuesdays and Fridays). WE URGENTLY NEED TO ENGAGE MORE ADORERS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY HOUR IS COVERED. Young people need to participate in this apostolate of adoration also! Please consider signing up for an hour or being on the substitute list. Contact Marie O’Leary at 467-1982.
CHURCH ETIQUETTE
WHEN YOU COME TO CHURCH, please turn OFF all cell phones, hand-held electronic devices, pagers, watch alarms, etc., and anything else that can disrupt our sacred time with God. It is possible for messaging and texting to wait until later!
IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN…when this bulletin will print “frequent and friendly reminders” to dress appropriately (respectfully, neatly, modestly) when coming here to Mass. Thus do we show outwardly the reverence for God and neighbor that we have inwardly. NOT APPROPRIATE in the House of God are: short pants or short skirts; tank tops or halter tops; strapless, tight-fitting and revealing outfits; in short, that which is worn for golf, tennis, or the beach. In a perfect world, such reminders would not be necessary. This is not a perfect world. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy and cooperation.
THERE ARE (AT LEAST) THREE REASONS to maintain a prayerful, quiet atmosphere in the church proper before and after services: (1) RESPECT for the House of God, (2) REVERENCE for the Blessed Sacrament, and (3) REGARD for those who want to pray in peace. The guiding principle should be DEVOTION NOT COMMOTION. Please carry on your friendly conversations in the church vestibules (with inside doors closed), outside, or at the coffee hours. Reverence and friendliness can and should co-exist—in their proper settings!!
PRAYING FOR THE SICK AND INFIRM
Judy Burns has volunteered to coordinate the SKT-LMC bulletin listing of sick and infirm members, relatives, and friends. The list will be there so that we might pray for them. Please note that NO health information will be printed in this bulletin. Judy will coordinate the names: long-term? Short-term? When to take off list? etc. To put names on the list, contact Judy Burns at (cell) 585-738-5156 OR (e-mail) burnsie320 @yahoo.com.

DIOCESAN NOTICES
You are invited to attend a special Year of Mercy Mass at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester:
June 22, 2016: 6:30 pm: The Feast of Saint John Fisher, the patron saint of the Diocese of Rochester, with Mass seeking his continued intercession for our Diocese. Bishop Matano will preside.
Pope Francis has declared that passing through the Holy Door of Mercy, located in our Diocese at the inside center entrance of the Cathedral, will offer the possibility of obtaining a Plenary Indulgence, a remission of the temporal punishment due to sins, by participating in the Sacraments of Confession and Holy Eucharist, praying for the Holy Father’s personal intentions, and praying the Profession of Faith (the Creed).
For more information and a complete schedule of the special Masses at the Cathedral, visit www.dor.org
THE BEAUTIFUL WEDDING of John Follaco and Rachel DeWitt took place yesterday. We congratulate and pray for them as they begin a new life together, married in the love of the Sacred Heart of Our Lord. Father Ralph Fraats witnessed, on behalf of the Church, their matrimonial vows.
THE PRIESTLY ORDINATION of three men took place yesterday at Sacred Heart Cathedral: Justin Miller, Jorge Velasquez, and Jainer Romero. We thank God for their call to the altar, and we pray for their perseverance in their labors on behalf of souls.
NOTE FROM FATHER BONSIGNORE:
Thanks to all of you who expressed your congratulations and best wishes to me on the occasion of my 35th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood (May 23). I appreciate the greeting cards and gifts, and both of the cakes at the coffee hour on May 22. I wish I could send all of you a personal note of thanks, but (alas!) that is highly unlikely. Most of all, I appreciate your promise of prayers so that I can continue to serve you here in the amazing apostolic adventure we call “SKT-LMC.”
CELEBRATING FATHER PETER G. HELFRICH
As you know, the Father-Confessor of our Community was a 40 Year Jubilarian this past May 3. In honor of his share in the Priesthood of Christ, here is a short sketch of his sacerdotal life, taken from the May 25, 2016, issue of the North Country Catholic (Diocese of Ogdensburg).
Father Helfrich was born June 3, 1949, in Rochester, NY. He studied for the priesthood at St. Andrew’s High School Seminary, St. John Fisher College, St. Bernard’s Seminary, all in Rochester, and Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora, NY. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Ogdensburg at the time of his ordination as a transitional deacon on December 3, 1975. He was ordained a priest May 1, 1976, at St. Mary’s Cathedral by Bishop Stanislaus J. Brzana.
Father has served as parochial vicar at Sacred Heart, Messena; in Au Sable Forks, Keeseville, Brasher Falls; St. Joseph, Messena; Holy Family, Watertown; and Our Lady of Victory, Plattsburg.
In 1986 Father Helfrich was named pastor of St. Therese and St. Henry, Newcomb and Long Lake; and in 1994 St. Francis Solamus, Harrisville. From 1994 to 1998, he also received a special assignment with the Carmel of St. Joseph in Saranac Lake and was Spiritual Director for the Lay Carmelites of Saranac Lake and Malone. From 1998 to 2002, he served as a supply for the Tri-Lakes area.
In 2002 Father Peter was given permission to assist his brother (Father Fred Helfrich) at Holy Spirit, Penfield-Webster and be supply priest as needed in the Diocese of Rochester. Since May 2013, he has been an assistant to the Rochester Latin Mass Community.
Presently, Father Helfrich also serves as assistant chaplain at Monroe Community Hospital, spiritual director to Holy Name of Mary Praesidium of the Legion of Mary, and helper (as needed) to St. Stanislaus Church in Rochester. He has a Life Honorary Membership in the Knights of Columbus and in the Welsh Society.
Thank you, dear Father, for deciding to follow your Lord as a faithful priest. You have accomplished so much thus far, and there is more to do in days and years ahead!
CONGRATULATIONS, AGAIN, AND GOD REWARD YOU!
SAVE THE DATE and PLAN ON COMING: Bishop Salvatore Matano will be visiting us here on Sunday, July 10. He will be at both Masses and, as our Community Picnic plans take shape, we will welcome him to our annual gathering once again.
COFFEE HOURS
COFFEE HOURS TODAY are being hosted after BOTH Masses. Why not stop into the Parish Center, even for a little while? There will be no coffee hours on June 12 and June 19.
