HOW TO CONTRIBUTE Checks should be made payable to “St. Kateri Tekakwitha-Latin Mass Community” OR for short, “SKT-LMC”. If you have pre-printed envelopes, please use them. If not, contributions can be placed in the blue envelopes OR loose in the collection baskets. Contributions deposited in envelopes from neighboring parishes will be returned to those home parishes and will not be credited to SKT-LMC. SKT-LMC envelopes deposited in neighboring parish collections will be returned and credited to us. Please be aware that, even though the SKT-LMC operates financially under ST. KATERI PARISH, the SKT-LMC does not subsidize ST. KATERI PARISH, and ST.KATERI PARISH does not subsidize the SKT-LMC. We must rely on our own monetary income to support our activities and facilities.
IF YOU HAVE FOUND A SPIRITUAL HOME in our Latin Mass Community here at St. Thomas’, please consider registering with us. Use the census forms found at the entrance door tables. Place form in the collection basket. Welcome! In order for you to receive the next packet of envelopes for Jan/Feb, your enrollment form must be submitted by Sunday November 15th. If you do not receive your envelopes by December 26th, please contact Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email to lmcommunity3gmail.com.
SECOND COLLECTION TODAY, on “Mission Sunday”, for the Propagation of the Faith. Checks for this should be written to “St. Kateri Parish.”
DAILY ROSARY Did you know the rosary is prayed in the church Monday through Friday at 8:15 a.m. and 6 p.m. and on Saturday at 8:45 a.m.? Come join us anytime, especially in October, the month of the holy rosary.
WE DO NEED VOLUNTEERS to help maintain our facilities, especially in the area of church and parish center cleaning. We need YOU! Please email dflanigen@yahoo.com or call 467-8747. Enough volunteers will enable us to have rotating teams.
HAVE YOU SEEN OUR WEBSITE? Check it out at www.skt-lmc.org. Special thanks to Ben Anderson, Jason Herforth, and Jonathan Lane. Email address: contact@162.144.95.10. If you have any suggestions to add, contact benanderson@benanderson.us.
THE EUCHARISTIC ADORATION CHAPEL, adjacent to the Parish Center must continue to be a very important powerhouse of prayer for us and for people in our area. Hours of adoration are on Mondays through Fridays from 9 AM to 10 PM (11 PM on Tuesday and Friday). WE NEED MORE ADORERS TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY HOUR IS COVERED. Please consider signing up for an hour or being on the substitute list. Contact Marie O’Leary at 467-1982.
CASE TRAINING The Diocese of Rochester requires volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults to participate in Creating a Safe Environment (CASE) training. If you plan to volunteer for a ministry that involves working with children, youth or vulnerable adults, you will need to take the class on-line from your home computer or attend a training session. Please call or email Kathy Beauchamp at 484-1810 or email lmcommunity3@gmail.com for further instructions.
WHEN YOU COME TO CHURCH, please turn OFF all cell phones, hand-held electronic devices, pagers, watch alarms, etc. ALSO, remember to dress appropriately (neatly and modestly). Unfortunately, in many churches today, people tend to “dress down” for Mass. How can this be??? RESPECT and REVERENCE toward God and neighbor (i.e. charity) should determine how we present ourselves in the House of God. Thank you, in advance, for your courtesy and cooperation.
FAITH FORMATION CCD classes have begun! We continue to welcome new students to our program. There is no doubt that Bishop Matano will use the success of our CCD classes as a factor when determining our future, so please consider enrolling your children with us. We are using the Faith and Life Series in conjunction with other supplemental materials to form our lessons. Our students will master their prayers, learn how to conduct themselves properly in front of the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Chapel, and will be going to confession regularly as part of our classes. One of our main goals is for our children to head off to college living their faith and being able to defend it. Please allow us to support your work at home by enrolling your children. Come to the parish center today at 10:10 or email Andy Follaco with questions at andrew.follaco@bcs1.org.
REQUIREMENTS FOR FAITH FORMATION: There seems to be confusion over the requirements of children looking to receive sacraments this school year. I’m asking that EVERY parent(including those who do not attend our CCD classes) who intends for their children to receive a sacrament through our community within the NEXT TWO YEARS to email Andy at andrew.follaco@bcs1.org to be sure that there are no surprises and all requirements put out by the diocese have been(or will be) satisfied. Please include your child’s name, current grade level, school attending, and sacraments received at this point.
NEXT SUNDAY, October 25, the 9 AM will be an “English Choir Mass” (XXX SUNDAY ORDINARY TIME) and the 11:15 AM will be a “Latin High Mass” followed by Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament (FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING).
FALL CLEAN UP DAY – We are planning a cleanup day next Saturday, October 24 at 9 a.m. Tasks include raking, weeding, putting storm windows in the parish center, replacing outdoor lights, and cleaning doors and window sills in the church. Please bring tools and cleaning supplies. If you could lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. Call 467-8747 or email dflanigen@yahoo.com if you are able to come, even just for a while. Again, we start at 9 a.m., not 7 a.m. as was mistakenly printed in last week’s announcements. We anticipate scheduling a follow up day for additional raking as many leaves have yet to fall.
ST. JUDE FEAST DAY TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS A Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrated in honor of Saint Jude on October 28 at 7:00pm at Our Lady of Mercy Parish. Our Lady of Mercy is located on 44 Lake Street in LeRoy, New York. For more information, please contact the parish office at (585)768-6543.
CONGRATULATIONS to Michael and Anne Marie Nordquist on the BAPTISM of their infant son, Leo Samuel, which took place last Sunday afternoon. There was a wonderful gathering of family and friends surrounding this very special e vent in Leo Samuel’s life.
REGARDING THE CMA”: We will soon be communicating to all of you more information on the annual Diocesan “Catholic Ministries Appeal.” Our Community has a financial goal to meet over the next few months. Please stay tuned. As announced last Sunday, our SKT-LMC code number is 400. When you contribute, you should address the pledge or check to “Catholic Ministries Appeal” and identify yourself as belonging to the “St. Kateri Latin Mass Community,” with code number 400.
BECAUSE OF TODAY’S COMMUNITY MEETING after the 9 AM Mass, NO COFFEE HOUR will be held after that Mass. However, there WILL BE a coffee hour held after the 11:15 AM Mass today.
SANCTUARY CANDLES burn at the Lady Chapel in the church, and the Adoration Chapel in the Parish Center. To schedule a date and leave your intention(s) call (585) 388-7734. Donations are $5.00 (3 day) for hanging lamps at the Lady chapel and $10.00 (7 day) for lamp stands in both chapels. Envelopes for candle donations will be available next week. Checks should be made payable to SKT-LMC.
